About Eric McMillan
I’m Eric McMillan, founder of VolBuild LLC. I started VolBuild in 2018 after spending more than two decades in residential construction across Tennessee and Alabama. Across a 25+ year career I’ve completed over 4,000 projects—including 121+ custom homes, 100+ roof replacements, and hundreds of decks, gutter installations, and concrete pours. Every estimate I write is itemized line-by-line, every job I take I personally inspect, and every customer call gets answered within four business hours.

What I Know
After more than 4,000 projects, I’ve learned that the difference between a contractor a homeowner calls back and one they don’t isn’t usually the price—it’s whether the contractor answered the phone, showed up when they said they would, and put every material, labor line, and warranty term in writing. That’s what VolBuild does.
I personally write the warranty and home-coverage education articles on this site because too much of what’s online is recycled affiliate copy with no construction reality behind it. If I’m recommending a tier of warranty coverage or a comparison between insurance and warranty, it’s because I’ve seen what happens to homeowners after the storm, after the system failure, after the appliance dies—and what the contracts actually pay out.
